Handpainted apron, Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, May 27,1877

Silk apron, skillfully hand painted by a sister and presented by D.T. Murphy to Joseph A. Donohoe, Jr, a patron of the Presentation Sisters, on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone of St. Joseph Convent in Berkeley, the first convent in that city. Irish American pioneers provided substantial support for the foundation and early ministries of sisters throughout the Bay Area.
